Shimla (Kameshwar Sharma): The Chitta-Mukt Himachal Drive gained momentum as Himachal Pradesh Police launched a major coordinated crackdown on drug traffickers across the state. The operation formed part of the second phase of the anti-drug campaign initiated by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on November 15, 2025.

Police teams carried out simultaneous searches and raids in all districts to strengthen efforts against organized drug networks and illegal narcotics trade.

Police Conduct Raids at 236 Locations

Based on intelligence inputs, technical analysis, and inter-district coordination, police launched a large-scale operation targeting active drug traffickers.

Furthermore, during the Chitta-Mukt Himachal Drive, district police and Special Task Force (STF) teams searched the homes, hideouts, and suspected premises of 236 alleged drug traffickers across Himachal Pradesh.

Authorities aimed to dismantle organized drug networks, disrupt supply chains, and ensure strict legal action against offenders.

Drugs, Cash, and Illegal Liquor Seized

The operation resulted in multiple recoveries across the state.

Police seized:

  • 12.59 grams of chitta (heroin)
  • 13.8 kilograms of chura-post
  • 70 grams of opium
  • 14,250 milliliters of illegal liquor
  • ₹2.31 lakh in cash

Furthermore, police registered five new cases under the NDPS Act and two cases under the Himachal Pradesh Excise Act.

Focus on Awareness and Community Participation

Officials stated that the Chitta-Mukt Himachal Drive is not limited to law enforcement alone.

The campaign also aims to raise awareness about drug abuse and strengthen community participation. Authorities want to protect young people from the harmful effects of narcotics and encourage public involvement in anti-drug efforts.

Moreover, the state government plans to continue the campaign with a scientific, aggressive, and zero-tolerance approach.

Himachal Pradesh Police appealed to residents to report any information related to drug trafficking, sale, storage, or consumption.

Citizens can share information through Dial-112, the nearest police station, or other official channels.

The department assured the public that it will keep the identity of informants completely confidential.

Special Appeal to Youth

Police officials made a special appeal to young people to support the anti-drug mission.

They urged youth to immediately report information related to chitta and other narcotic substances. The department believes that public participation and youth cooperation remain essential for achieving a drug-free Himachal Pradesh.
