Shimla (Kameshwar Sharma): The Brij Lal Joins Congress development has given the Himachal Pradesh Congress a significant political boost. Former BJP leader Brij Lal joined the Congress along with more than 300 supporters during a programme in Shimla. Later, the newly inducted leaders met Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu at the State Secretariat.
Moreover, the Chief Minister warmly welcomed Brij Lal and his supporters into the Congress party. He assured them that the party would respect every worker and provide equal opportunities to all members.
Chief Minister assures balanced development
During the meeting, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said the state government remains committed to the welfare of every section of society. He added that the government is ensuring balanced development across Himachal Pradesh.
Furthermore, he described Rampur as the home constituency of former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh. Therefore, he assured party workers that the government would leave no gap in the area’s development.
Memorandum submitted on local issues
Brij Lal also submitted a memorandum highlighting development issues related to the Rampur Assembly constituency. In response, the Chief Minister assured him that the government would examine the demands sympathetically.
Additionally, he encouraged the new Congress members to take the government’s welfare schemes and achievements to the people. According to him, stronger public outreach will further strengthen the party across the state.

While addressing the gathering, Brij Lal said he joined Congress after being impressed by the working style of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and the state government’s long-term vision.

Brij Lal criticized the BJP over its internal political situation. He referred to former Chief Minister Shanta Kumar’s remarks and claimed that the BJP had shifted away from being a workers’ party.
Furthermore, he alleged that several senior BJP leaders are engaged in internal competition for the Chief Minister’s post. According to him, these developments have weakened the party’s organization in the state.

Brij Lal expressed confidence that the people of Himachal Pradesh strongly support Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and the Congress government.
Finally, he predicted that Congress would retain power in the 2027 Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections. Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh also attended the programme, highlighting the importance of the political development.
