Bilaspur (Kameshwar Sharma): Bilaspur witnessed great excitement during the Bilaspur Wrestling Competition organized by the Harnoda Devla Chhamb Naihar Dangal Committee. Wrestlers from different states displayed their impressive strength, techniques, and wrestling skills during the grand traditional event.
A large number of spectators from nearby as well as distant areas attended the competition. As a result, the wrestling arena remained packed throughout the event. The audience enjoyed several thrilling bouts and cheered enthusiastically for their favorite wrestlers.
The competition successfully promoted traditional Indian sports and strengthened cultural ties among participants and visitors.
Chief Guest Highlights Importance of Traditional Sports
During the Bilaspur Wrestling Competition, chief guest Uday Kumar Tiwari attended the event and encouraged young people to participate in traditional sports.
Dangal Committee President Nandlal Thakur and other committee members welcomed him warmly and honored him with a memento.
While addressing the gathering, Uday Kumar Tiwari said that traditional wrestling competitions strengthen brotherhood and social harmony in society. Furthermore, he urged youth to stay away from drugs and focus on healthy activities such as wrestling and kabaddi.
He also stated that traditional sports help develop discipline, physical fitness, and positive thinking among young people. According to him, wrestling and kabaddi are valuable parts of Indian rural culture and must be preserved for future generations.
Wrestlers from Many States Participate
The Bilaspur Wrestling Competition witnessed participation from wrestlers belonging to Punjab, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and several other states. The matches remained highly competitive and entertained the audience throughout the event.
In the Under-14 category, Saurav from Lakhanpur defeated Piyush from Chandpur and won the title.
Similarly, in the Chhoti Mali category, Bhushan from Batwara defeated Akash in an exciting contest.
Meanwhile, the Badi Mali match became the main attraction of the event. After a long and thrilling struggle, Yuvraj defeated the wrestler from Kaithal and claimed the prestigious title along with the prize money.
Organizers and Guests Play Important Role
Several dignitaries attended the Bilaspur Wrestling Competition as special guests. These included NTPC officer Purn Singh, social worker Saroj Thakur, retired deputy director Prakash Thakur, and ITBP Assistant Commandant Balak Ram Dogra.
The organizing committee members also played a major role in making the event successful. Committee president Nandlal Thakur, vice president Prakash Thakur, secretary Sonu Thakur, referee Sanjay Kumar, and many volunteers managed the arrangements efficiently.
