Rising theft incidents in Paonta Sahib have created an atmosphere of fear and insecurity among residents, with multiple bike theft cases being reported from both the main market area and nearby residential localities.
In the latest incident, unidentified thieves stole a motorcycle parked outside a house near Chungi No. 6 in the Shubh Khera area at around 7:30 PM on Wednesday evening.
The most significant aspect of the case is that the entire theft was captured on a nearby CCTV camera. The footage reportedly shows the accused arriving at the spot and fleeing with the motorcycle within minutes, indicating a well-planned operation carried out with confidence.
Following the incident, the victim immediately filed a complaint at the local police station, after which an investigation was initiated.
Police officials said they are analyzing the CCTV footage to identify the suspects and have expressed confidence that the accused will be traced soon.
Meanwhile, the increasing number of theft cases has raised serious concerns among local residents, who have demanded stronger security arrangements and increased police patrolling to prevent further incidents.
