Kasauli (Kameshwar Sharma): The Kasauli water irrigation projects update received a major boost as Himachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri announced that development works worth around ₹225 crore are in the final stage. He made this announcement during an “Abhar Sabha” held at Kumarhatti in the Kasauli assembly constituency.
The event also witnessed the presence of Education Minister Rohit Thakur, along with several senior officials and local leaders. Moreover, a large number of newly elected Panchayat representatives attended the gathering.
Massive ₹225 Crore Development Push
Addressing the public, Mukesh Agnihotri said that multiple drinking water and irrigation projects are progressing rapidly in the region. Therefore, the government aims to strengthen basic infrastructure across Kasauli.
He highlighted that these schemes are designed to improve both rural water supply and agricultural irrigation. In addition, he said that most projects are already in advanced stages of completion.
Key Drinking Water Projects
The Deputy CM informed that a ₹135 crore Giripar drinking water supply scheme has reached nearly 90% completion. Moreover, the remaining work will be completed soon with public cooperation.
Once completed, the scheme will benefit around 55,000 people across 17 gram panchayats and nearly 180 villages. Consequently, the region will receive a stable drinking water supply.
Furthermore, an Asian Development Bank-supported ₹38 crore water supply project is also underway. This project will provide clean drinking water to 10 gram panchayats. Therefore, it will significantly improve public health and daily living conditions.
Irrigation Projects for Farmers
Mukesh Agnihotri also reviewed irrigation schemes under the Kasauli water irrigation projects update.
He said that the ₹4.50 crore Patta Barawari irrigation project is progressing well. Once completed, it will irrigate around 116 hectares of land across 10 villages. As a result, farmers will receive better crop productivity.
Similarly, the ₹1.15 crore Haripur irrigation project is also moving forward. This project will irrigate 54 hectares of land in 8 villages. Therefore, it will directly support local agriculture and rural livelihoods.
Sewerage System Improvement in Parwanoo
The Deputy Chief Minister further stated that a ₹47 crore sewerage project in Parwanoo is also progressing. Moreover, Phase-I of the project is already complete, while Phase-II will be finished soon.
Consequently, residents will receive improved sanitation and better urban infrastructure. This will also help in maintaining environmental cleanliness in the region.
Focus on Panchayat Development
During the event, Mukesh Agnihotri congratulated newly elected Panchayat representatives. He said that Panchayati Raj institutions play a key role in rural development.
Therefore, he urged representatives to actively support government schemes. He also emphasized that the state government will continue to provide full support for village development.
Education Minister Rohit Thakur also extended congratulations to the representatives. He expressed hope that Gram Panchayat Chewa will develop into a model Panchayat.

MLA Vinod Sultanpuri also addressed the gathering. He stated that Panchayat representatives act as a vital link between the government and the people. Moreover, he assured continued government support for development work.
