Shimla (Kameshwar Sharma): The Youth Held With Chitta in Shimla operation marked another major success in the district’s anti-drug campaign.
Police Station Baluganj arrested a youth after recovering nearly 6 grams of Chitta, also known as heroin, during checking on National Highway-05.
Officials said the police team was conducting routine patrolling and crime prevention activities in the area.

According to police officials, the Special Cell team was deployed near Khwara Chowki on NH-05 on May 15, 2026.
The team was carrying out traffic checking, patrolling, and surveillance duties to prevent criminal activities.
Meanwhile, police officers stopped a bus for inspection during the operation.
Police Recover Chitta From Carry Bag
During the checking process, police searched a carry bag belonging to a passenger sitting inside the bus.
As a result, officers recovered around 6 grams of Chitta/heroin from the bag. Police immediately arrested the accused after the recovery.

Accused Identified as Kumarasain Resident
Police identified the accused as 27-year-old Sanjeev Verma, a resident of Kandiyali village under Kumarasain tehsil in Shimla district.
Following the arrest, Baluganj Police registered FIR number 85/2026 dated May 15, 2026, under Section 21 of the NDPS Act.
Police Continue Detailed Investigation
Police officials presented the accused before the court and obtained remand for further investigation.
Authorities are now examining possible links connected to larger drug trafficking and supply networks.
