Amritsar (Rajesh Sandhu): Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann continued the second day of the Bhagwant Mann Shukrana Yatra in Amritsar on Wednesday. During the public gathering, the Chief Minister strongly targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He accused the party of following anti-Punjab policies.
Addressing large crowds at different locations, Bhagwant Mann said the Aam Aadmi Party government focuses on “politics of public service.” He added that the BJP promotes “anti-Punjab politics.”
The Bhagwant Mann Shukrana Yatra received a grand welcome in Amritsar South and East constituencies. Supporters gathered in large numbers during the event.
CM Highlights Punjab Government Achievements
During the Bhagwant Mann Shukrana Yatra, the Chief Minister highlighted key achievements of the Punjab government.
Bhagwant Mann said the government provided free electricity to households and offered 65,000 government jobs. He also said the government restored canal water to fields and launched healthcare schemes worth up to Rs 10 lakh for families.
He also mentioned monthly financial assistance schemes for women and improvements in public healthcare and education infrastructure across Punjab.
The Chief Minister said the Punjab government opened Aam Aadmi Clinics to provide free medical treatment and started building world-class government schools throughout the state.
Bhagwant Mann Targets BJP Over Farmers During Bhagwant Mann Shukrana Yatra
The Bhagwant Mann Shukrana Yatra also witnessed strong criticism of the BJP regarding the farmers’ protest.
Bhagwant Mann said Punjab would never forgive those who tried to suppress the voices of farmers during the agitation. Referring to the deaths of around 700 farmers during the protest movement, he accused the BJP-led central government of ignoring the concerns of Punjab’s farming community.
The Chief Minister also alleged that repeated attempts were made to weaken Punjab’s rights, identity, and resources.
He further accused the BJP of trying to interfere in Punjab’s water rights, Chandigarh issue, Punjab University matters, and healthcare initiatives.
Bhagwant Mann Shukrana Yatra: CM Warns Against BJP-Akali Alliance
During the Bhagwant Mann Shukrana Yatra, the Punjab Chief Minister also targeted the Shiromani Akali Dal and BJP alliance.
Bhagwant Mann claimed that any future alliance between the Akali Dal and BJP would prove harmful for Punjab. He stated that both parties focus more on political survival than public welfare.
The Chief Minister described the alliance as “anti-Punjab” and alleged that divisive politics could damage the state’s peace and unity.
He further stated that Punjab’s communal harmony and brotherhood remain deeply rooted and cannot be weakened by hate politics.
Strict Anti-Sacrilege Law Highlighted
One of the major announcements during the Bhagwant Mann Shukrana Yatra focused on the Punjab government’s anti-sacrilege law.
Bhagwant Mann said anyone found guilty of sacrilege against Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji would face strict punishment under the law. He stated that offenders could receive a minimum sentence of 10 years, which may extend to life imprisonment, along with a fine of up to Rs 50 lakh.
The Chief Minister questioned why previous governments failed to introduce such strict laws earlier.
He also criticized former governments for their handling of past sacrilege incidents and related protests.
Punjab Government Focused on Development
Bhagwant Mann stated that the Punjab government remains committed to development, peace, and prosperity across the state.
During the Bhagwant Mann Shukrana Yatra, he highlighted infrastructure improvements, modernization of hospitals, sewerage upgrades, and irrigation projects.
The Chief Minister said nearly 14,000 kilometers of pipelines have been laid and canal systems restored to ensure water reaches agricultural fields throughout Punjab.
He added that around 90 percent of households in Punjab are receiving free electricity benefits under the state government’s welfare schemes.
CM Says Yatra Is Spiritual, Not Political
Bhagwant Mann clarified that the Bhagwant Mann Shukrana Yatra is not political. He described it as a spiritual journey. He said the purpose was to express gratitude for introducing strict anti-sacrilege laws in Punjab.
The Chief Minister concluded by assuring people that the Punjab government would continue working tirelessly for peace, progress, and public welfare across the state.
