Background Context
ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) workers are grassroots health workers who play a vital role in implementing public health programs in villages and urban slums. For a long time, they have been raising demands for higher incentives, social security benefits, provident fund, and regular employment status.
The Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) has been consistently supporting the struggles of scheme workers across Punjab.
This upcoming May Day celebration holds special significance as workers across the state are gearing up to highlight issues related to wages, job security, and dignity of labour.
