Amritsar (Rajesh Sandhu): The Amritsar SIR 2026 Voter List Revision process has entered a new phase after the Election Commission of India released a revised schedule. The update applies to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR-2026) based on the eligibility date of 01.10.2026.
To explain the changes, District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Amritsar, Dalwinderjit Singh (IAS), held an important meeting with representatives of various political parties at the District Administrative Complex.
Moreover, officials clearly explained all updated timelines and procedures during the session.
Revised Schedule for Voter List Publication
During the meeting on the Amritsar SIR 2026 Voter List Revision, the District Election Officer shared the revised timeline issued by the Election Commission.
Now, authorities will publish the draft voter list on 03.08.2026 instead of 31.07.2026. This change shifts the official start of the public review process.
In addition, citizens can submit claims and objections from 03.08.2026 to 02.09.2026. Therefore, voters will receive sufficient time to correct or update their details.
Claims and Verification Timeline Updated
Officials further explained that the process of handling claims, objections, and notices will run from 03.08.2026 to 28.09.2026.
However, other parts of the Amritsar SIR 2026 Voter List Revision schedule remain unchanged. This ensures continuity in the overall revision process.
Moreover, the administration confirmed that Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct house-to-house visits from 25.06.2026 to 24.07.2026. During this period, BLOs will collect and verify enumeration forms from voters.
Mandatory Participation of Voters
The District Election Officer emphasized that all voters must complete their enumeration forms under the SIR process.
Furthermore, he stated that participation in the Amritsar SIR 2026 Voter List Revision is mandatory for all eligible citizens.
To ensure smooth implementation, the administration has planned special arrangements at the booth level.
Special Camps on June 7
As part of voter facilitation, authorities will organize special camps on 07.06.2026 at all polling stations across the district.
During these camps, BLOs will assist voters in mapping their current details with the 2003 voter list. This step aims to verify and match records accurately.
In addition, officials believe these camps will reduce errors and improve voter list accuracy.
Progress in Voter Mapping
The District Election Officer shared important data during the meeting on the Amritsar SIR 2026 Voter List Revision.
Out of 19,71,604 total voters in the district, officials have successfully mapped 17,38,253 voters with the 2003 voter list.
However, 2,33,351 voters remain unmapped. Therefore, the administration has launched focused efforts to complete the remaining mapping process.
To support this, authorities have already shared booth-wise lists with political parties. They requested party workers and Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to help complete the process quickly.
Role of Political Parties and BLAs
The District Election Officer urged all political parties to actively support the Amritsar SIR 2026 Voter List Revision.
He requested parties to appoint Booth Level Agents (BLAs) at every polling station as soon as possible.
In addition, training sessions for BLAs will take place from 15.06.2026 to 19.06.2026 in different assembly constituencies.
Officials also encouraged political parties to ensure full participation in these training programs. This will help maintain transparency and accuracy in the revision process.
Ensuring Transparency and Fairness
Officials stressed that the entire SIR process will remain transparent, fair, and efficient.
Moreover, the administration aims to ensure that no eligible voter is left out of the updated list. At the same time, they want to prevent duplication or errors in voter records.
Therefore, continuous coordination between officials, political parties, and citizens remains essential.
Conclusion
The Amritsar SIR 2026 Voter List Revision has been officially updated with new timelines for publication, claims, and verification.
Overall, the district administration is working closely with political parties and field officers to ensure a smooth and accurate voter list revision.
