Amritsar: Under the directions of Commissioner of Police Amritsar, Shri Gurpreet Singh Bhullar (IPS), the Commissionerate Police carried out intensive security operations across the city to ensure public safety and maintain law and order.
On April 17, 2026, local police teams along with SOG (Special Operations Group) commandos conducted patrolling in various sensitive areas of the city. Special checkpoints were established both within and on the outskirts of Amritsar to monitor suspicious activities and strengthen security arrangements.
During the drive, vehicles were thoroughly checked at multiple locations, and individuals moving without valid reasons were questioned in detail. Police teams also conducted inspections at shopping malls and parking areas to ensure that no illegal or suspicious activity was taking place.
Officials stated that the objective of this operation was to enhance surveillance, deter criminal activities, and ensure the safety of citizens.
The Commissionerate Police also appealed to the public to immediately inform law enforcement authorities if they notice any suspicious person or illegal activity in their area. The identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.
Authorities reiterated that Amritsar Police remains fully alert and active 24×7 to protect citizens and maintain peace in the city.
