Amritsar (Dawarka Nath Rana): Amritsar witnessed an important review meeting of the Health Department’s Food Safety Wing at Bachat Bhawan. Chairman Health System Corporation S. Gursharan Singh Cheena chaired the meeting and reviewed ongoing Food Safety Meeting.
Senior officials from the health department attended the meeting, including Civil Surgeon Dr. Satinderjit Singh Bajaj, Assistant Commissioner Food Rajinder Pal Singh, and other key officers.
Strict Action Against Food Adulteration
During the meeting, Chairman Gursharan Singh Cheena issued strict instructions to curb food adulteration in the district. He clearly stated that no form of adulteration will be tolerated.
He specifically stressed the need for strict monitoring of milk and dairy products, calling them highly sensitive items that require continuous inspection and vigilance.
Focus on Safe and Quality Food Supply
Officials discussed strategies to ensure that citizens receive safe, hygienic, and quality food products. The Chairman directed officers to intensify inspection drives in markets and food production units.
He also asked the Food Safety Wing to increase surprise checks and strengthen enforcement mechanisms across Amritsar.
Plans were also discussed to enhance coordination between field inspectors and laboratory teams for faster enforcement action.
