Akali Leader Barjinder Singh Makhan Resigns Amid Allegations

Barjinder Singh Makhan Quits Shiromani Akali Dal

Punjab politics witnessed a major stir as Barjinder Singh Makhan announced his resignation from all positions and primary membership of Shiromani Akali Dal (Punar Surjit). He shared his decision on social media, stating that it was taken after careful consideration.

Along with his resignation, Makhan leveled serious allegations against key party leaders, naming specifically Giani Harpreet Singh and Manpreet Singh Iali. He accused them of misleading the Sikh community and Punjab in coordination with central agencies.

Makhan claimed that a major conspiracy had been orchestrated in the name of Akal Takht Sahib, which later continued under Shiromani Akali Dal (Punar Surjit). Over time, he realized that activities were being conducted against the interests of the Sikh community and Punjab.

According to Makhan, central authorities intentionally worked to weaken Sikh organizations, with the current Punjab government also playing a role. He accused Manpreet Iali of supporting his association with the party but remaining silent whenever the welfare of Punjab or the community was at stake. He further suggested that Iali’s commercial interests and connections with the government could be influencing his stance.

Regarding Giani Harpreet Singh, Makhan alleged that he tried to influence Sikh politics using the authority of Akal Takht Sahib and acted according to directions from Delhi. Makhan admitted that joining the party was a mistake and his conscience no longer allows him to stay silent.

This resignation has sparked fresh discussions in Akali politics, raising questions about the party’s response and whether this move could trigger further political changes in Punjab.
