Punjab Employees Rally in Amritsar Supporting Nurses’ Pay Protest, Demand Withdrawal of ESMA

Amritsar Rally Backs Nurses’ Grade Pay Protest

Employees and union representatives staged a protest rally outside the OPD of Guru Nanak Dev Hospital in Amritsar in support of the ongoing agitation by the United Nursing Association of Punjab, which has been demanding revision of grade pay for a long time.

The rally was organized under the directions of Satish Rana, President of the Punjab Subordinate Service Federation (1406-22-B), Chandigarh. Several employee leaders and members participated in the demonstration to extend solidarity with protesting nurses.

During the protest, employee representatives warned the Punjab Government to immediately withdraw the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) imposed on employees and resolve the long-pending grade pay demands of the United Nursing Association of Punjab without further delay.

Union leaders stated that if the government fails to address their demands promptly, employees across Punjab would be compelled to launch a statewide agitation against the state government.

Prominent participants in the rally included Narendra Singh (President), Swinder Singh Bhatti, Prem Chand Azad, Lovepreet, Jatin Sharma, and other employee representatives who strongly voiced support for the nurses’ movement.

The protest highlights growing dissatisfaction among healthcare employees, who claim their financial and service-related concerns have remained unresolved despite repeated appeals.
