NDDB Chief Reviews 136 Crore Verka Dairy Project Amritsar

National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) Chairman Dr. Meenesh Shah visited the Verka Milk Plant in Amritsar today to review ongoing development projects and dairy operations. He was warmly welcomed by the Board of Directors and management of Milk Union Amritsar.

General Manager of Verka Amritsar Dairy, Animesh Pramanik, formally received the chairman and briefed him about the dairy’s recent achievements and operational progress. During the visit, officials also presented details of the upcoming 2.35 LLPD Fermented Dairy and Other Products Plant, being established by the Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.

The project, estimated at approximately ₹136 crore, will incorporate advanced dairy processing technologies aimed at enhancing production capacity as well as improving the quality of milk and dairy products at the Verka Amritsar facility.

Officials stated that once operational, the project will ensure the availability of high-quality milk products for consumers while also benefiting farmers, transporters, retailers, and other stakeholders associated with the dairy supply chain.

At present, the Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) work under the project is nearly complete and is expected to become operational soon. The remaining construction work is progressing rapidly, and the project is likely to be completed by the end of this year.

Several dignitaries, including Vice Chairman Bhupinder Singh, board members Aman Deep Singh, Palwinder Singh, Gurmukh Singh, Surjit Singh, Jagjit Singh, Harjit Singh, Baj Singh, and Milkfed Punjab representative General Manager Sanjeev Sharma, were present on the occasion.

Senior NDDB officials, including Regional Head Rajesh Kumar, Senior Manager Sandeep Dhiman, Senior Manager ES Shreyas Jain, Manager R.P.S. Bali, along with officers and employees of Milk Union Amritsar, also attended the visit.
