ABVP Protests After Student’s Suspicious Death at Shoolini University, Alleges Administrative Negligence

Tensions escalated at Shoolini University in Solan following the suspicious death of a student, with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) accusing the university administration of serious negligence and insensitivity toward student issues.

Nancy Atal, State Minister of ABVP’s Himachal Pradesh unit, strongly criticized the university administration, stating that the incident has deeply shocked the student community and triggered widespread anger across the state. She said the protests held by students on campus after the incident indicate long-standing problems within the institution that were allegedly ignored.

Atal described the incident as not merely an isolated tragedy but a consequence of administrative negligence and an indifferent attitude toward student concerns. According to preliminary information, the student was reportedly dealing with mental pressure, academic stress, and placement-related issues, but his grievances were allegedly not addressed seriously.

She added that timely intervention and a sensitive approach by the administration could have prevented the unfortunate incident. The ABVP leader further alleged that attempts were being made to suppress the truth surrounding the case, calling the situation highly unfortunate.

The student organization has made it clear that it will continue its agitation until a fair and impartial investigation is conducted and strict action is taken against those found responsible. ABVP has demanded a high-level inquiry by the state government, prioritization of student safety measures, improved mental health support systems in universities, and justice for the victim’s family.

The organization warned that if justice is delayed, it will launch a statewide agitation. It also stated that the issue would be raised at every level—from street protests to legislative forums—to hold those responsible accountable.
