Prime Minister and senior BJP leader Narendra Modi intensified the party’s election campaign in Assam on Friday by addressing two major public rallies at Gogamukh and Biswanath, highlighting development, welfare initiatives, and future investment plans for the state.
Speaking at Gogamukh, Modi emphasized that the welfare of the poor and middle class remains central to the Bharatiya Janata Party’s agenda. He stated that the government continues to focus on improving infrastructure, education, and healthcare to ensure inclusive and sustainable growth across Assam.
The Prime Minister said that Assam has witnessed significant transformation over the past decade under the NDA government. Crediting the “double engine” governance model, he claimed the state has achieved stability and peace, with youth increasingly choosing development opportunities over violence.
Highlighting Assam’s growing global recognition, Modi noted that while the state is already known worldwide for its tea industry, it is set to emerge as a semiconductor manufacturing hub with a new plant being developed in Morigaon.
Referring to the BJP’s newly released manifesto, Modi said it includes major initiatives aimed at strengthening infrastructure, generating employment opportunities, and improving the education sector. He also reiterated the party’s commitment to implementing a Uniform Civil Code while safeguarding the cultural identity and traditions of tribal communities.
Later, addressing another rally in Biswanath, the Prime Minister reaffirmed BJP’s vision of building an “Atmanirbhar Assam.” He announced a proposed investment of ₹18,000 crore for flood control and erosion management projects across the state.
Criticizing the opposition, Modi alleged that the Indian National Congress had allowed illegal settlers to occupy land belonging to indigenous communities. He assured that his government remains committed to addressing illegal immigration and protecting the land rights of Assam’s native population.
