PM Modi Urges Unity Amid West Asia Conflict, Warns Against Rumours in Mann Ki Baat

PM Modi Calls for Unity Amid West Asia Conflict

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday urged citizens to remain united and vigilant in the face of challenges arising from the ongoing conflict in West Asia. Addressing the nation through his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat, the Prime Minister appealed to people not to fall prey to misinformation or rumours during the sensitive global situation.

Highlighting the seriousness of the crisis, Modi said a devastating conflict has been continuing in India’s neighbouring region for over a month, making it a challenging period for the global community.

Through the broadcast, the Prime Minister called upon all 1.4 billion Indians to stand together and collectively face emerging challenges. He emphasized the importance of awareness and responsible behaviour, urging citizens to stay alert and rely only on verified information.

Modi also expressed deep gratitude to Gulf nations for extending support and assistance to nearly one crore Indians living and working in those countries. He appreciated their continued cooperation and efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of the Indian diaspora.

The conflict in West Asia began on February 28 following military strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran. In response, Iran targeted Israel and American allies in the region. The situation further escalated after disruptions in shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial maritime route responsible for transporting nearly 20 percent of the world’s energy supply.

Since the escalation, Iran has reportedly allowed only limited vessels to pass through the strategic waterway, raising global concerns over energy security and trade stability.

Amid the crisis, Prime Minister Modi has held discussions with several world leaders, including those from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Iran, France, Israel, and Malaysia. He also spoke with US President Donald Trump, with both leaders engaging in what Modi described as a “meaningful exchange of views” regarding the West Asia situation during a telephone conversation on March 24.

The Indian government continues to closely monitor developments while prioritizing the safety of Indian citizens abroad and maintaining diplomatic engagement to support regional stability.
