Rekong Peo (Kameshwar Sharma): The Sarkar Gaon Ke Dwar initiative reached Kinnaur as Revenue, Horticulture, Tribal Development, and Public Grievance Redressal Minister Jagat Singh Negi chaired a public outreach programme at Mahatma Gandhi Park in Rekong Peo. During the event, the minister highlighted the Himachal Pradesh government’s welfare initiatives and listened to public grievances.
He said the Sarkar Gaon Ke Dwar programme aims to take government services directly to villages. According to him, the initiative helps people understand various welfare schemes while ensuring they receive benefits without unnecessary delays.
Government Focuses on Transparent Governance
Jagat Singh Negi said the state government is working to strengthen transparency and accountability. Therefore, the administration has started organizing Sarkar Gaon Ke Dwar programmes across Himachal Pradesh, including Kinnaur district.
He said the initiative allows district officials to resolve public issues at people’s doorsteps. Moreover, it helps Panchayat representatives and local residents stay informed about government policies and development programmes.
Minister Highlights Key Welfare Decisions
The minister highlighted several important decisions taken by the state government under Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.
First, he said the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) has benefited nearly 1.36 lakh government employees across Himachal Pradesh.
In addition, he spoke about the Forest Rights Act, 2006, the Right to Information Act, 2005, and the Nautor Act, 1968. He said these laws have improved the social and economic condition of landless and marginalized communities.
Support for Farmers and Disaster Victims
Jagat Singh Negi said the government introduced the Universal Carton Policy after removing the telescopic carton system. As a result, small and marginal apple growers will receive better protection from exploitation.
He also highlighted changes in the state’s disaster relief policy. Now, financial assistance for fully damaged houses has increased from ₹1.30 lakh to ₹8 lakh. Similarly, compensation for partially damaged houses has increased from ₹6,000 to ₹1 lakh.
According to the minister, these reforms provide greater financial support to families affected by natural disasters.
Education, Tribal Welfare and Anti-Drug Campaign
The minister said the government has introduced English-medium education from Class 1 in government schools. Furthermore, schools in Nichar, Sangla, Rekong Peo, Pooh, and Kanam will adopt the CBSE pattern.
He also said eligible families in tribal and remote areas are receiving land ownership rights under the Forest Rights Act. Meanwhile, the government is strengthening police intelligence to make Himachal Pradesh a drug-free state.
He urged Panchayat representatives, teachers, parents, and social workers to support the campaign against drug abuse.
Public Grievances Addressed During the Programme
After his address, Jagat Singh Negi interacted with local residents and heard their grievances. He directed officials from different departments to resolve complaints quickly. At the same time, he assured people that pending issues would be addressed in phases.
The minister also visited exhibition stalls showcasing various government welfare schemes.
Additionally, the Health and AYUSH departments organized a mega medical camp during the programme. Doctors provided free health check-ups and distributed medicines. Many senior citizens benefited from the initiative.
The event was attended by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Amit Kumar Sharma, Superintendent of Police Sushil Kumar Sharma, SDM Praveen Bhardwaj, and several elected representatives, government officials, and local residents.
