Shimla (Kameshwar Sharma): The State ITI Sports Competition concluded on a grand note at ITI Chaura Maidan in Shimla. Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest and honoured the winners and runners-up in the presence of participants, trainers, and officials from across Himachal Pradesh.
The four-day State ITI Sports Competition brought together 408 women athletes from 11 districts. Besides promoting sporting excellence, the event also encouraged teamwork, discipline, and cultural exchange among students.
Deputy Commissioner Leads Anti-Drug Pledge
The closing ceremony began with Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap administering an anti-drug pledge to players, students, trainers, and staff members.
Moreover, he urged everyone to actively support the campaign for a drug-free Himachal Pradesh.
Addressing the gathering, he said sports are much more than competitions. They help young people develop discipline, leadership, confidence, teamwork, and decision-making skills.
Furthermore, he said every participant is a winner because sports build resilience and self-confidence.
Girls Continue to Excel in Every Field
Anupam Kashyap praised the achievements of women across different sectors.
He said girls are bringing pride to the state and the country through excellence in sports, education, science, administration, the armed forces, and entrepreneurship.
Therefore, he encouraged students to sharpen their skills, set ambitious goals, and work hard to achieve them.
Sports Help Build Responsible Citizens
The Deputy Commissioner said discipline and respect for rules are essential for success.
In addition, he explained that sports teach valuable life lessons. They help players accept defeat with courage and celebrate victory with humility.
He also expressed concern over the growing drug menace among youth.
According to him, drugs affect not only individuals but also families and society. Therefore, he urged young people to channel their energy into education, sports, innovation, and other positive activities.
He further appealed to people to help friends struggling with addiction instead of isolating them.
Government Urges Public to Report Drug Trafficking
Anupam Kashyap said the Himachal Pradesh Government has intensified action against drug traffickers.
Additionally, he highlighted the government’s reward scheme for people who provide information about drug trafficking.
Under the scheme, informants can receive rewards ranging from ₹10,000 to ₹10 lakh.
He assured citizens that authorities keep the identity of informants completely confidential.
As a result, he encouraged people to report drug-related activities without fear.
Winners Honoured at Closing Ceremony
The Deputy Commissioner congratulated the organisers, trainers, referees, and participants for successfully conducting the State ITI Sports Competition.
He said such events provide young athletes with opportunities to showcase their talent while promoting healthy competition and preserving cultural traditions.
Finally, he presented trophies and prizes to the winners and runners-up in sports and cultural competitions. Organisers also honoured the chief guest with a traditional shawl, cap, and memento.
