Amritsar (Dawarka Nath Rana): The Punjab State Election Commission has issued fresh voter identification guidelines for the upcoming municipal council and nagar panchayat elections 2026. Under the new rules, No EPIC Card Punjab Voters Can Still Cast Their Vote by using several other approved identity documents during polling.
Dalwinderjit Singh shared the information while explaining the arrangements for smooth and transparent elections.
Multiple Identity Documents Approved for Voting
According to officials, voters who already possess an Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC) can use it as their primary voting document. However, voters without an EPIC card will still remain eligible to vote through alternative identity proofs.
Furthermore, the Election Commission approved several government-issued documents to ensure that no eligible voter faces inconvenience on polling day.
List of Valid Documents for Voting
Under the latest election guidelines, voters can use the following documents for identity verification:
- Aadhaar Card
- Indian Passport
- Driving License
- PAN Card with photo
- MGNREGA Job Card
- Ration Card or Blue Card
- Pension documents
- Arms License with photograph
- Bank or Post Office Passbook with photograph
- Health Insurance Smart Card issued by Labour Ministry
- Government ID cards issued to MPs and MLAs
- Unique Disability Identity Card (UDID)
- Service identity cards issued by Central or State Government departments, PSUs, or Public Limited Companies
- Student ID cards issued by recognized educational institutions
Additionally, officials clarified that all documents must clearly establish the voter’s identity.
Family Members May Also Use Shared Documents
Dalwinderjit Singh also stated that election officials may verify family members through documents issued in the name of the head of the family.
However, authorities will allow this only when officials can clearly confirm the voter’s identity. Therefore, the administration advised citizens to carry proper and updated identification documents to avoid delays at polling booths.
Administration Appeals for Smooth Polling
The district administration assured voters that officials will strictly follow the Election Commission’s directions during the election process.
