Sri Amritsar Sahib (Dwarka Nath Rana) – Amritsar Police achieved a major success by arresting two accused involved in a mobile snatching case under the Cheharta police station area. The Snatching Gang Busted by Cheharta Police operation took place under the directions of Commissioner of Police Shri Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, IPS. Meanwhile, ADCP City-2 Parminder Kaur and ACP West Kamaldeep Singh supervised the investigation. Sub Inspector Balwinder Singh along with the police team carried out the action successfully.
Victim Dragged During Snatching Attempt
According to police information, complainant Abhilash, a resident of Ranjitpura Cheharta, stated that on May 10, 2026, he was returning home after closing his shop when two motorcycle-borne youths attempted to snatch his mobile phone.
However, the victim refused to leave his phone. As a result, the accused dragged him for some distance before fleeing from the spot.
Police Arrested Both Accused Within 24 Hours
After investigating every angle of the case, police arrested two accused identified as Arunjeet Singh alias Arun, son of Nirmal Singh, and Joshua, son of Rajindi, residents of Sat Kartar Nagar, Cheharta Amritsar, on May 11, 2026.
In addition, police recovered the motorcycle used in the crime, a Splendor bike bearing registration number PB02-FC-5423.
Fake Number Plates and RC Recovered
During the investigation, Snatching Gang Busted by Cheharta Police police discovered that the accused used fake number plates on the motorcycle while committing snatching incidents.
Furthermore, the police team recovered fake number plates, a forged RC document, and another mobile phone from the accused.
Further Investigation Underway
Police registered FIR number 102 dated May 11, 2026, under various sections of the BNS at Cheharta Police Station, Amritsar.
At present, police are conducting a detailed investigation to find out whether the accused were involved in more criminal activities in the region.
