Chandigarh/Shimla (Kameshwar Sharma): Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla has taken a significant step in the field of social security by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Institute of Social Defence (NISD), under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, along with five other leading institutions.
The MoU was signed during the ‘Chintan Shivir’ held in Chandigarh on April 24, 2026. The initiative aims to strengthen joint training programs, research collaborations, and social welfare interventions in the domain of social security.
Under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Preeti Saxena, the university continues to expand its academic and policy-driven collaborations. On this occasion, Registrar Prof. (Dr.) Alok Kumar represented HPNLU as the designated nodal officer and participated in the signing ceremony, reflecting the institution’s strong commitment to national priorities in social justice and empowerment.
This strategic partnership marks an important step towards collaboration among key academic and policy institutions. It focuses on interdisciplinary engagement, capacity building, and impactful research to address pressing social challenges.
The MoU is expected to significantly contribute to the development of stronger policies and practices that promote social justice, welfare, and inclusive development.
