Kolkata: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the Trinamool Congress (TMC) during the Vijay Sankalp Sabha held in Bongaon, West Bengal. He alleged that the ruling party’s governance has severely damaged Bengal’s identity and progress.
PM Modi said that TMC came to power 15 years ago with the slogan “Maa, Maati, Manush,” but today the party no longer even mentions it. He claimed that if they do, their “wrongdoings will be exposed.”
He further alleged that under TMC rule, land has been taken over by syndicates and infiltrators, forcing people to migrate. The Prime Minister said Bengal has immense potential and can once again become the number one state in the country.
Recalling Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, PM Modi said that just as Netaji once called for sacrifice for freedom, today Bengal needs a decisive vote for change. He appealed to voters to support the BJP, saying it would “free Bengal from TMC rule.”
Referring to earlier phases of voting, he claimed that people have already “broken the arrogance” of TMC and expressed confidence that the BJP would secure a strong victory in the coming phases.
PM Modi also raised concerns over women’s safety, accusing the TMC government of failing to protect women and girls. He cited incidents such as Sandeshkhali, alleging injustice and administrative negligence.
He urged voters not to forget these incidents and promised strict action against those responsible if the BJP comes to power.
During his address, the Prime Minister also announced several welfare promises for women, including free treatment up to ₹5 lakh, discounted medicines under Jan Aushadhi Kendras, free cancer screening and vaccination, ₹21,000 assistance during pregnancy, and ₹50,000 for daughters’ graduation.
He also promised ₹36,000 annual direct transfers to women’s accounts, better salaries for Anganwadi and women health workers, and 33% reservation for women in government jobs.
