Varanasi: Preparations are in full swing ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s two-day visit to Varanasi, scheduled to begin on April 28. During this visit, the Prime Minister is expected to visit the Kashi Vishwanath Dham and offer special prayers at the temple.
According to the schedule, Prime Minister Modi will arrive at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple on the morning of April 29, nearly 13 months after his last visit. He is expected to spend around 30 minutes at the temple for darshan and prayers.
Reports suggest that the Prime Minister will depart from the BARECA Guest House at around 7:00 AM and proceed to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple. After completing his prayers, he is likely to return to the BLW Guest House by 8:00 AM.
Notably, during his earlier visit in August 2025, the Prime Minister had inaugurated and dedicated development projects worth thousands of crores in Sevapuri and other areas but had not visited the Kashi Vishwanath Temple at that time. He had later expressed regret, stating that he avoided the visit due to heavy crowd during the Sawan month to ensure devotees were not inconvenienced.
He had then said, “I wish to offer prayers at Kashi Vishwanath and Markandey Mahadev Temple, but I avoided it due to large crowds during Sawan. My priority is to ensure devotees do not face inconvenience.” He had also offered his respects to Maa Ganga and Baba Vishwanath from a public platform.
During the upcoming visit, the Prime Minister is expected to perform prayers using the Shodashopachar Vidhi, which includes 16 traditional rituals. Temple authorities have confirmed that all arrangements are being made to ensure a smooth and secure visit.
Speaking to local media, BJP district media in-charge Arvind Mishra said that the Prime Minister’s visit is dedicated to the “Nari Shakti Vandan” initiative. He also added that during the visit, PM Modi will seek blessings of Lord Kashi Vishwanath and pray for victory in West Bengal elections.
