Amritsar Wheat Procurement Crosses 3 Lakh Metric Ton

Sri Amritsar Sahib (Suraj Kamlesh): Wheat procurement in the mandis of Amritsar district is continuing smoothly under the directions of the Punjab Government, with the total procurement crossing 3 lakh metric tonnes.

Deputy Commissioner Amritsar, Mr. Dalwinderjit Singh, informed that till last evening, a total of 3,07,862 metric tonnes of wheat had been procured against an arrival of 3,32,236 metric tonnes in various mandis of the district.

He further shared the procurement details of different agencies: PUNGRAIN procured 23,178 MT, MARKFED 12,708 MT, PUNSUP 13,963 MT, Punjab State Warehousing Corporation 7,916 MT, and FCI procured 7,387 MT. In addition, 1,174 MT of wheat was purchased by private traders.

The Deputy Commissioner said that payments to farmers are being made on a priority basis, and so far ₹460 crore has been directly transferred into farmers’ bank accounts.

He added that strict instructions have been issued to ensure fast lifting of wheat from mandis after procurement. He reiterated that under the Punjab Government’s directives, wheat procurement is being carried out smoothly across all mandis in the district, and farmers are not facing any inconvenience.
