Shimla (Kameshwar Sharma): BJP State Vice President Rashmi Dhar Sood launched a sharp attack on the Congress, Samajwadi Party, and Trinamool Congress, accusing them of blocking a crucial women’s reservation bill and undermining the rights and aspirations of women across the country.
Addressing a press conference, she said the bill was not just a legislative proposal but a historic step aimed at providing millions of women an opportunity to raise their voices in Parliament and state assemblies. She alleged that the opposition parties deliberately obstructed this significant reform.
Sood stated that the bill, introduced under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was a major effort toward ensuring real political participation for women. However, she claimed that opposition parties collectively worked to derail it.
Taking a dig at the Congress slogan “Ladki Hoon, Lad Sakti Hoon,” she said the party’s stance in Parliament exposed its “true intentions,” calling the slogan mere political display rather than genuine commitment.
She further alleged that while Congress and its allies speak about women empowerment on public platforms, their actions reflect opposition to women’s advancement. According to her, Congress has historically confined women to the role of voters and repeatedly delayed their leadership opportunities.
In contrast, she credited the BJP for providing real opportunities to women, stating that women from ordinary backgrounds are now emerging as leaders across the country. She also referred to the growing “Jan Aakrosh rallies” as evidence that women are becoming more aware and assertive about their rights.
Concluding her remarks, Sood emphasized that ensuring respect, equal opportunity, and participation of women in decision-making is a collective responsibility, and said the BJP remains fully committed to this cause.
