Amritsar PIMSIP Review 85 Lakh Records Go Digital

Amritsar, April 16: Acting on the directions of Municipal Commissioner Bikramjit Singh Shergill, Additional Commissioner Dr. Jai Inder Singh chaired a review meeting of the Punjab Municipal Services Improvement Project (PIMSIP), being implemented with support from the World Bank and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.

The PIMSIP project has been launched by the government to enhance municipal services and promote e-governance. The Amritsar Bulk Water Supply Scheme (ABWSS) is also a key component of this project.

Senior officials of the Municipal Corporation, along with representatives from Larsen & Toubro, participated in the meeting. During the session, it was revealed that the digitization of old municipal records will begin next week. Approximately 85 lakh pages will be scanned and converted into digital format within the next nine months.

In addition, the installation of compactors for proper storage and management of old records is expected to be completed by next month.

Reviewing the progress of the GIS survey, officials informed that 21% of properties have been covered so far. Noting the slow pace, the Additional Commissioner directed the company to increase the number of survey team members. He also appealed to residents to cooperate with GIS teams and provide accurate property details.

Officials from Larsen & Toubro stated that work under the ABWSS project has been accelerated, with around 850 workers currently engaged. They expressed confidence that the project will be completed by the end of this year.

The Additional Commissioner instructed officials to closely monitor the company’s work to ensure faster progress and asked the firm to further increase workforce strength if required.

Prominent officials present at the meeting included SE Project Dr. Jitin Vasudeva, Project Manager Kuldeep Singh Saini (Retd. Chief Engineer), XEN Sunil Mahajan, Narendra Pal Singh, Jitender Vansil, Giriraj Singh Hada, Mani Sharma, Ashwani Kumar, and representatives from Larsen & Toubro including Sanjay Kumar and Anil Kumar Vind.
