Chhattisgarh Plant Accident 17 Workers Dead

Chhattisgarh: At least 17 workers have lost their lives in a tragic accident at a Vedanta power plant in Chhattisgarh, with several others critically injured and undergoing treatment in Raipur.

According to officials, many of the injured are in serious condition, and medical teams are providing the best possible care. The Shakti District Collector stated that the administration is closely monitoring the situation and ensuring proper treatment for all affected workers.

Following discussions between the plant management and district administration, compensation has been announced for the victims. Families of the deceased workers will receive ₹35 lakh along with a job for one family member. The plant management will also bear all medical expenses of the injured workers.

The district administration has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incident to determine the cause of the accident.

As the death toll continues to rise, the incident has sparked political reactions. The Congress party has constituted its own investigation team, which will visit affected families and workers to gather details about the tragedy.

Meanwhile, the district administration’s probe will focus on eight key aspects related to the accident, aiming to establish accountability and prevent such incidents in the future.
