Two Killed in Shimla Car Crash, Vehicle Falls 150 Feet

Shimla: In a tragic late-night road accident in the Summer Hill area of Shimla, two residents of Chandigarh lost their lives after a vehicle plunged into a deep drain.

The deceased have been identified as Gurmeet Singh, son of Mahinder Singh, and Bara Singh, son of Sheetal, both residents of Maloya Colony, Chandigarh. Bara Singh, who operated a glass shop in Mohali, had come to Shimla along with his associates for a delivery.

According to reports, after unloading the goods, the vehicle was being turned when it suddenly went out of control and fell nearly 150 feet into a drain. At the time of the accident, Gurmeet Singh was inside the vehicle, while others were standing outside.

With the help of local residents, both victims were rescued and rushed to Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla. Doctors declared Gurmeet Singh dead on arrival, while Bara Singh later succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Police said that a total of six people were traveling in the vehicle. Preliminary investigation suggests negligence while turning the vehicle as the possible cause of the accident.

A case has been registered under Sections 281 and 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and further investigation is underway.
