Amritsar: The Neurosciences Society of Punjab (NSP) successfully organized the Third Neurosciences Summit 2026 in Amritsar, bringing together leading neurologists, neurosurgeons, and researchers from across India.
The conference was led by senior experts including Ashok Uppal, Salil Uppal, Shikhil Uppal, Manjul Tripathi, Aishwarya Mehra, Vineet Sagar, and Somil Kansal.
Experts from major institutions including Mumbai, Chandigarh, Kerala, and Bengaluru participated in the summit.
Dr. Ashok Uppal said the conference serves as a unified platform where neurologists, neurosurgeons, neurointerventionists, and neuroradiologists come together to exchange knowledge and advancements in neurosciences.
Dr. S.M. Katrak from Mumbai highlighted the growing concern of dementia in middle-aged individuals, emphasizing lifestyle changes and reduction in air pollution as key preventive measures.
Doctors from Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGI), including Dr. Sandeep Mohindra, Dr. Praveen Salunke, Dr. Manjul Tripathi, Dr. Abhijit Singh, Dr. Vineet Sagar, and Dr. Paritosh Pandey, shared advancements in brain aneurysm treatment, spinal disorders, and gamma knife surgery.
Panel discussions led by experts including Dr. Silaja P.N., Dr. Dhiraj Khurana, and Dr. Arvind Sharma (Indian Stroke Association secretary) focused on stroke management, highlighting that even delayed and severe cases can now be treated effectively with modern techniques.
On epilepsy, Dr. P.S. Kharbanda and Dr. Mallika Bhaskar Rao explained that resistant epilepsy can be treated through both medication and surgical options.
For Parkinson’s disease, specialists including Dr. U. Manikshesundaram and Dr. Vinay Goyal discussed Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) as an advanced treatment option when medications fail to control symptoms.
Dr. Harsh Deora from NIMHANS Bengaluru presented recent advancements in brain tumor surgery.
In the concluding session, Dr. Krish Sridhar, President of the Neurosurgical Society of India, emphasized that neurosurgery is a highly skilled medical field and praised neurosurgeons for handling some of the most complex cases in medicine.
The summit witnessed participation from leading doctors across India, making it one of the most significant gatherings in the field of neurosciences.
