Leaders Pay Tribute to Dr BR Ambedkar on Jayanti

New Delhi: On the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti, several leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi paid heartfelt tributes to Dr B.R. Ambedkar on Tuesday.

Marking the occasion, PM Modi shared an old video on X, describing the day as one of great significance in the nation’s history. He stated that Dr Ambedkar was not just an individual but a powerful idea, who dedicated his life to fighting social evils and injustice.

PM Modi Highlights Ambedkar’s Legacy

The Prime Minister emphasized that Dr Ambedkar worked tirelessly for the upliftment of Dalits, backward classes, and marginalized communities, often enduring personal humiliation but never deviating from his path.

He added that since 2014, his government has taken several steps to preserve and promote Ambedkar’s legacy. Key sites associated with his life—including his birthplace in Mhow, education site in London, Mahaparinirvan Sthal in Delhi, and Deekshabhoomi in Nagpur—have been developed into the “Panchteerth.”

PM Modi said that by following Ambedkar’s vision, India is progressing towards bringing transformative changes in the lives of the poor and underprivileged.

Amit Shah’s Tribute

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also paid tribute, stating that Dr Ambedkar laid a strong foundation for Indian democracy by giving the country a Constitution that ensures equal rights and opportunities for all.

He further noted that Dr Ambedkar strongly opposed Article 370 in the interest of national unity. Shah added that Ambedkar’s life teaches that dedication to national service can overcome any obstacle.
