Mohali: A youth from Ropar was allegedly honey-trapped and robbed of valuables worth nearly ₹12 lakh in Mohali, after being lured through a dating app. According to the complaint, the victim, who runs a brick kiln in Ropar, came in contact with a girl via the Tinder app and later travelled to Mohali to meet her.
The girl reportedly called him to Mohali and took him to a mall on the pretext of having coffee. It is alleged that she mixed an intoxicating substance in his coffee, leaving him in a semi-unconscious state. She then called her male associate to the spot.
Taking advantage of his condition, the duo allegedly robbed him of his kada, chain, rings and ₹70,000 in cash, with the total value of stolen items estimated at around ₹12 lakh. After the robbery, the girl and her accomplice fled from the scene.
Police are reportedly collecting CCTV footage from the mall to identify and trace the accused. It is also stated that three to four similar honey-trap incidents have come to light in Mohali in the past. The case has drawn the attention of senior officers, and DSP Prithvi Singh’s byte has been recorded in connection with the incident.
