The United States military has confirmed the destruction of the headquarters of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in a large-scale strike, marking a dramatic escalation in the ongoing Middle East conflict. In an official statement, United States Central Command (CENTCOM) described the operation as “cutting off the head of the snake.”
US President Donald Trump announced that American forces destroyed nine Iranian naval ships during the operation. In a public post on Truth Social, Trump stated that the vessels included several large and strategically important ships. He further warned that remaining Iranian naval assets would also be targeted, claiming they would soon be “floating at the bottom of the sea.”
In a separate strike, the US reportedly dealt heavy damage to Iran’s Naval Headquarters, significantly weakening Tehran’s maritime command capabilities.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military confirmed conducting coordinated strikes on dozens of Iranian military command centers. These included facilities linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), intelligence headquarters, IRGC Air Force command centers, and internal security offices. According to Israeli officials, the attacks inflicted severe damage on Iran’s command-and-control structure and resulted in casualties among key personnel.
The joint US-Israeli operations reportedly continued a day after the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, a development that has further intensified tensions across the region.
Explosions were reported across Tehran overnight, with Israel claiming its strikes targeted the heart of the Iranian capital. In retaliation, Iran launched missiles and drones targeting Israel, US military installations in the Gulf region, as well as locations near the Saudi capital and Dubai.
The escalating exchange of strikes has pushed the Middle East closer to a broader regional war, raising global concerns over energy security, regional stability, and potential international intervention.
