Uday Bhanu Chib Held Over AI Summit Protest

Delhi Police has intensified action against Youth Congress workers who staged a shirtless protest during the India AI Impact Summit in the national capital. In a major development, police arrested Uday Bhanu Chib, the National President of the Indian Youth Congress (IYC), in connection with the case.

According to Delhi Police officials, Chib allegedly played a key role in planning the protest at the AI conference. After nearly 15 hours of interrogation, he was formally arrested and later produced before a court.

What Happened at the AI Summit?

The incident took place on February 20, 2026, during the India AI Impact Summit held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. A group of Youth Congress workers entered the exhibition hall and staged a shirtless demonstration.

The protesters reportedly removed their T-shirts, raised anti-government slogans, and displayed messages opposing the India–US trade agreement. Security personnel quickly intervened and escorted them out of the venue.

Total Arrests Reach Eight

Earlier, seven Youth Congress workers were arrested in connection with the protest. With the arrest of Uday Bhanu Chib, the total number of arrests in the case has now risen to eight.

Delhi Police stated that further investigation is ongoing to determine the level of coordination and planning behind the protest. Authorities emphasized that security protocols at a high-profile international summit cannot be violated.

The incident has triggered political reactions, with opposition leaders defending the protest as democratic dissent, while the government maintains that law and order must be upheld.

Further legal proceedings are expected in the coming days.
