Trump Warns Iran Over Hormuz Toll Fees, Tensions Rise Again After Ceasefire

Trump Slams Iran Over Hormuz Shipping Toll Charges

Tensions between the United States and Iran remain high even after a recent ceasefire agreement linked to the ongoing regional conflict involving the Israel–Iran Conflict (2024–present escalation) and broader Gulf security issues.

US President Donald Trump has issued a fresh warning to Iran over alleged toll collection on commercial vessels passing through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.

Trump stated that Iran should not impose any transit fees on oil tankers moving through the waterway and warned that global oil flow would continue “with or without Iran’s cooperation.” He added that any such charges should be stopped immediately.

The remarks came shortly after reports suggested that Iran had agreed to reopen the energy corridor under a temporary ceasefire arrangement, allowing limited shipping through the strait. However, early restrictions reportedly limited vessel movement during the agreement period.

In a series of posts on his social media platform, Trump criticized Tehran’s handling of maritime traffic, claiming that Iran was mismanaging the passage of oil shipments. He also suggested that global energy flows would not depend on Iran’s decisions.

Additional reports, including from the Financial Times, claimed that Iran may require shipping operators to pay transit tolls in cryptocurrency, citing sources linked to Iran’s oil and petrochemical export associations.

While the claims have not been independently verified, they have added further uncertainty to already fragile regional stability in the Gulf.

The latest exchange highlights ongoing geopolitical tensions surrounding one of the world’s most critical energy chokepoints, with global markets closely watching developments in the region.
