TMC Releases ‘Didi’s 10 Pledges’ Manifesto Ahead of West Bengal Assembly Elections

TMC Unveils ‘Didi’s 10 Pledges’ Bengal Poll Manifesto

Kolkata: With the West Bengal Assembly elections approaching, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Friday unveiled its election manifesto titled “Didi’s 10 Pledges,” outlining key welfare commitments and governance priorities for the state.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee presented the manifesto, describing it as a roadmap aimed at strengthening public welfare schemes while protecting Bengal’s cultural and political identity.

Polling for the West Bengal Assembly elections is scheduled to be conducted in two phases on April 23 and April 29, while the counting of votes will take place on May 4.

Focus on Welfare and Governance

Addressing the media, Banerjee emphasized that the manifesto focuses on social welfare, economic support programs, and inclusive development. The TMC leadership projected the pledges as commitments designed to safeguard citizens’ rights and ensure continued welfare delivery across the state.

Criticism of BJP and Central Government

During her address, the Chief Minister launched a sharp attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Central government, alleging attempts to interfere in state administration and weaken democratic institutions.

She claimed that efforts were being made to “disenfranchise citizens” and warned that a possible delimitation exercise after the elections could affect Bengal’s political representation.

Concerns Over Election Preparations

Banerjee also raised concerns regarding the large-scale transfer of government officials ahead of the elections. According to her, such administrative reshuffles could disrupt essential public services, particularly ration distribution systems.

She further criticized the appointment of election observers unfamiliar with local conditions, arguing that it could impact governance and administrative coordination during the election period.

Expressing confidence about the broader political scenario, the Chief Minister suggested that public sentiment at the national level may shift against the ruling party at the Centre.

The West Bengal Assembly elections are expected to witness intense political competition, with major parties gearing up for a high-stakes electoral battle in one of India’s politically significant states.
