Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s Gurpurab Observed with Deep Devotion at Sri Darbar Sahib, Fireworks Replaced by Diya Light

The Gurpurab of Dasam Pita, Sarbans Dani Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj, is being observed today with profound devotion and respect at Sri Harmandir Sahib, as devotees from across India and abroad bow their heads and offer prayers for the well-being of all. The atmosphere around the shrine is spiritually charged, with continuous Gurbani kirtan, ardas and the flowing tradition of Guru ka Langar.

This year’s celebration carries an added sense of humility and reflection, as it falls in the same period when the martyrdom days of the four Sahibzade are commemorated, reminding the Panth of their unmatched courage and supreme sacrifices. Remembering Baba Ajit Singh Ji, Baba Jujhar Singh Ji, Baba Zorawar Singh Ji and Baba Fateh Singh Ji, the sangat is reflecting on their message that standing firm for truth and humanity is the highest form of faith.

In view of the somber remembrance of the Sahibzade, the management has decided to refrain from fireworks and to mark the Gurpurab only with a serene display of earthen lamps and lights, a decision warmly welcomed by the devotees. Special arrangements including beautifully decorated Jalloh Sahib have been made so that the Sangat can have comfortable darshan-didaar throughout the day.

Addressing the gathering, religious speakers urged Sikhs to go beyond ritual and bring Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s teachings into daily life by embracing Naam, Seva and readiness to oppose injustice in any form. Devotees like Bhupinder Singh and others shared that with the Gurpurab and the Sahibzade’s martyrdom days coinciding, their faith and emotion feel even stronger, and they continue to pray for Chardi Kala of the Khalsa and peace for all humanity.

Concluding the programmes, an appeal was made to the community to connect more deeply with Sikhi, study Sikh history, partake in Amrit and walk on the path shown by Guru Gobind Singh Ji so that individual lives, families and society can be uplifted in true spiritual progress.
