Anticipating heavy pilgrim influx for New Year 2026, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) conducted a comprehensive review of arrangements to ensure safe, smooth, and hassle-free yatra experience. The review meeting, chaired by CEO Shri Sachin Kumar Vaishya as per directives from the Honorable Chairman (LG JK-UT), was attended by representatives from the Shrine Board, district administration, security agencies, and key stakeholders.
CEO directed officials to strengthen yatra management and security measures along the track and at Bhawan, emphasizing strict RFID-based access control to allow only valid card holders. Additional handheld RFID scanners and manpower were ordered at main checkpoints to prevent errors. Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) at SGC Katara is monitoring high-footfall areas 24/7 for real-time surveillance and quick response.
Fire and Emergency Services were tasked with deploying fire tenders along the track and strategic points, plus a comprehensive fire safety audit of the shrine. CEO stressed strict SOP adherence and disaster preparedness. Upgrading bus sound systems to full public address systems for timely announcements, personnel verification for private agencies and service operators, and clearing unauthorized parking at Banganga and Tarakot were highlighted to ensure smooth traffic. Multi-layered security grid with police, CRPF, and QRTs, backed by advanced surveillance, was briefed.
The meeting concluded with clear directives for seamless coordination, heightened vigilance, and a secure, spiritually enriching yatra during the New Year period. Attendees included Additional CEO SMVDSB, SSP Reasi, Joint CEO SMVDSB, SDM Katra & Bhawan, SP Katra, CRPF Commandant, and others.
