Shimla: In a major crackdown against narcotics, the Shimla Police has dismantled an inter-state drug trafficking network and seized 34.440 grams of heroin (chitta). The action was taken under case no. 41/2026 registered on April 1, 2026, at Theog Police Station.
Police said they received a tip-off about drug dealings taking place in a Bolero Camper vehicle in the Matiana area. Acting swiftly, a police team intercepted the vehicle and detained four youths — Chand Prakash (32), Vijay Kumar (23), Abhishek (24), and Kailash (26) — residents of Kullu District and Shimla.
During the search, conducted in the presence of independent witnesses, police recovered 34.440 grams of heroin from their possession. All four were arrested under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
Further investigation, including technical analysis and interrogation, led to the arrest of the alleged main supplier, Shivdev Singh (30), a resident of Mansa District. A special team tracked him down in Punjab and brought him to Theog, where he was produced before the court and remanded to police custody.
Authorities said further investigation is underway to identify additional members of the network. The operation is being seen as a significant step in the ongoing campaign against drug trafficking in Himachal Pradesh.
