The Shimla district police successfully busted a juvenile theft gang and arrested four accused during a late-night operation conducted on March 20, 2026, in the Sunni police station area.
According to police officials, the action was initiated after Tech Chand, site in-charge of a road construction company BPM, informed authorities around 3:00 am that unidentified individuals had stolen diesel and batteries from construction machinery at the work site.
Acting swiftly on the information, a police team reached the spot and launched an immediate search operation. During the raid, police recovered two pickup vehicles bearing registration numbers HP30-5790 and HP06B-5527 allegedly used in the theft.
Three juvenile suspects attempted to escape by descending into a nearby gorge (dhank) but were safely rescued and taken into custody after police personnel carried out a risky operation using ropes. The fourth accused was apprehended at the scene.
Based on the complainant’s statement, Police Station Sunni registered FIR No. 11/2026 under Sections 303(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation into the case is currently underway.
Shimla Police stated that law enforcement agencies remain fully alert to maintain law and order and warned that criminal activities will not be tolerated. Authorities also appealed to citizens to promptly report any suspicious activities to help strengthen public safety and security in the region.
