Second Vande Bharat Sleeper Train Approved, Bengaluru–Mumbai Route Confirmed

Second Vande Bharat Sleeper Train Approved in India

India’s semi-high-speed rail network is set for a major expansion as the second Vande Bharat Sleeper train has received approval, with a confirmed route between Bengaluru and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus.

According to official updates, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has approved the new sleeper service after growing demand for luxury long-distance train travel. While the official launch date has not yet been finalized, preparations are already underway, and the train set is reported to be ready.

The first Vande Bharat Sleeper service is currently operating between Guwahati and Howrah, and has received strong passenger response with occupancy rates reportedly exceeding 100%.

The newly approved Bengaluru–Mumbai route is expected to become the second operational corridor for the sleeper version of the Vande Bharat Express, marking a significant step in expanding India’s modern rail infrastructure.

Public representatives have also shown strong interest in introducing the train on additional routes. Recently, BJP MP P.C. Mohan met the Railway Minister requesting the introduction of the Vande Bharat Sleeper service between Bengaluru and Mumbai, which has now been accepted.

Officials indicated that the government plans to roll out a total of 12 Vande Bharat Sleeper trains by the end of the year. As per earlier announcements by the Railway Minister, eight trains are expected to be introduced by October, with the remaining services rolled out by year-end.

The Vande Bharat Sleeper project is being seen as a major upgrade in India’s long-distance rail travel, offering enhanced speed, comfort, and modern facilities for passengers.
