Recognised worldwide for his humanitarian service, Dr. S.P. Singh Oberoi, founder of the Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust, continues to extend support to flood-affected families through the Trust’s special “Flood-Affected Marriage Scheme.”
Under this initiative, financial assistance of ₹1 lakh each was provided as shagun to 17 daughters — including 16 from Amritsar district and one from Gurdaspur district — to support their marriages.
Speaking on the occasion, S. P. Singh Oberoi said that under the Trust’s decision to support daughters of flood-affected families, financial aid has been distributed across several districts. These include 16 beneficiaries from Amritsar, 25 from Tarn Taran, 31 from Ferozepur, 28 from Fazilka, 4 from Moga, and one each from Kapurthala, Jalandhar, and Gurdaspur — totaling 107 families in this phase.
With this latest support, the Trust has now successfully assisted in the marriages of 214 daughters under the flood relief initiative.
Dr. Oberoi further informed that the Trust has also begun reconstruction of houses damaged by floods. The first installment of financial assistance has already been released to 15 affected families for rebuilding their homes.
He expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Sangat of Seattle (USA) for their special contribution in making this large-scale service initiative successful. Office-bearers of the Trust’s Seattle unit travelled from the United States to attend the wedding assistance ceremony.
At the conclusion of the programme, prominent members of Chamiari town honoured Dr. Oberoi and the visiting dignitaries for their dedicated humanitarian efforts.
Parents of the beneficiary daughters also extended their sincere thanks to Dr. Oberoi and the Trust, stating that the assistance had relieved them of the heavy financial burden associated with their daughters’ marriages.
Several trustees, community leaders, and distinguished personalities were present on the occasion to support and witness the charitable initiative.
