Deputy Commissioner Apoorv Devgan has announced that a Saras Mela will be organised from February 16 to 25 at the rooftop of Indira Market during the International Shivratri Festival celebrations in Mandi.
He informed that the fair will witness participation from self-help groups (SHGs) and artisans from nearly 16 states across the country, including various districts of Himachal Pradesh. Representatives from all development blocks of Mandi district will also take part in the event.
Around 90 to 95 stalls have been set up at the venue, out of which 15 stalls have been allocated for local cuisines. Additionally, one special stall has been reserved for a self-help group of दिव्यांगजन (persons with disabilities).
The Deputy Commissioner stated that products related to handicrafts, handloom and food processing will be the major attractions of the Saras Mela. The event aims to promote local products and empower self-help groups by providing them with a wider platform to showcase and sell their goods.
He urged residents and visitors to attend the Saras Mela in large numbers and support self-help groups by purchasing their products, thereby encouraging local entrepreneurship and sustainable livelihoods.
