Sandhu Vows No Airport Sell-Off, Tourism Surge at Amritsar Press Club

Former US Ambassador and Amritsar Lok Sabha in-charge Taranjit Singh Sandhu attended a “Meet the Press” event at New Amritsar’s Press Club, fully backing media demands and pledging all efforts for solutions.

Tourism and Airport Pledges

Sandhu stressed 3-4 day stays in Guru Nagari to boost visitors, urging special drives for tourism heights, and firmly opposed privatizing Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport—while pushing to maximize its underused 5% cargo capacity. He highlighted India-EU pacts aiding farmers and locals.

Club Priorities

President Rajesh Gill outlined needs like gym/auditorium/rooms, ground landscaping, toll-free access for accredited journalists via NHAI, and foreign press club links; SVP Jaswant Singh Jas thanked Sandhu, confident of top priority. Key attendees: Gen Secy Maninder Moga, VP Vipan Rana, Secy Satish Sharma, Treasurer Kamal Kishore Pehlwan, plus district journalists.
