Tension escalated in the Angarh area of Amritsar’s Central Assembly constituency after local residents protested against an alleged illegal construction reportedly being carried out in Tezab Wali Gali.
According to residents, the construction is being undertaken under the name of a mosque and madrasa, prompting strong objections from locals who have raised concerns about its legality. Residents claimed that despite submitting written complaints and memorandums to the administration, no action has been taken so far.
Senior leader Dr. Ram Chawla visited the site to assess the situation and received a written memorandum from residents led by Ashok Kumar. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Chawla assured the public that the matter would be strongly raised before the administration.
He demanded an immediate investigation into the legality of the construction and called for strict action, including demolition if the structure is found to be unauthorized. He also urged authorities to conduct verification of residents in the area to prevent any illegal activities.
Jatinder Singh Golu, coordinator of the Virsa Sambhal Manch, stated that his organization would not compromise on peace and security in the locality.
Several local representatives, including Mandal President Tehal Singh, Jatin Kumar, Seenu Kumar, Kamal, Vinod Pal, Sanjeev Kumar, and other prominent residents, were present during the protest.
Authorities have yet to issue an official statement regarding the allegations.
