The Punjab and Haryana High Court has directed that elections for the Rampura Phool Block Samiti will be conducted on 1st April under strict supervision to ensure transparency and fairness. The court has appointed a legal observer to oversee the election process.
The elections will be held for the posts of Chairman and Vice-Chairman, and the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Bathinda will supervise the polling to ensure impartiality. The High Court clarified that local MLAs and individuals without voting rights will not be allowed inside polling stations.
Earlier, the Punjab government had canceled these elections twice due to the lack of a majority by the Aam Aadmi Party. The Shiromani Akali Dal, through ten Block Samiti councilors, had approached the High Court seeking a directive to conduct the elections fairly and transparently.
Advocate Arshdeep Singh Clare, Chief Spokesperson of Shiromani Akali Dal Legal Wing, confirmed that the court has issued clear guidelines for a free and fair election, appointing an independent observer to monitor the process. The elections will be conducted in a transparent manner under High Court supervision, marking the second such directive by the court in the past two days for the party’s petitions.
The court’s involvement is expected to ensure a neutral and credible electoral process, providing confidence to all candidates and voters in the Rampura Phool Block Samiti elections.
