New Delhi : Defence Minister Rajnath Singh chaired a high-level security review meeting in New Delhi on Tuesday to assess the evolving situation in West Asia and its potential impact on India’s national security preparedness.
The meeting was attended by the Chief of Defence Staff, chiefs of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, the Defence Secretary, Defence Production Secretary, and the Chairman of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
Review of Regional Security Situation
During the meeting, senior officials briefed the Defence Minister on the current global and regional security environment, focusing on the escalating conflict in West Asia and the possible strategic implications for India. Discussions included emerging challenges as well as opportunities arising from the rapidly changing geopolitical landscape.
Focus on Defence Supply Chain and Military Readiness
Key issues reviewed included defence procurement, indigenous production, maintenance capabilities, and supply chain resilience. Officials evaluated how ongoing international tensions could affect defence equipment availability and operational preparedness.
Rajnath Singh emphasized the importance of continuously learning military and technological lessons from ongoing conflicts worldwide to strengthen India’s defence capabilities.
Long-Term Strategic Planning
The Defence Minister called for the development of a comprehensive 10-year strategic roadmap aimed at enhancing self-reliance and preparedness across all defence sectors. He stressed the need for strengthening domestic defence manufacturing and ensuring operational readiness against future security challenges.
The meeting reflects the government’s proactive approach toward safeguarding national security amid increasing global instability.
