Rajeev Bindal Questions Fund Utilisation for Nahan Medical College

Bindal Slams Govt Over Nahan Medical Funds

Rajeev Bindal, President of the Bharatiya Janata Party Himachal Pradesh unit, has raised serious questions over the alleged non-utilisation of central funds meant for the Nahan Medical College.

Addressing the media in Shimla, Bindal said that according to the Governor’s official report, several institutions including Chamba, Hamirpur, Tanda Medical College, Chamiyana Super Specialty Hospital and IGMC received financial assistance, while Nahan Medical College remains “at zero.”

Questions Over Delayed Projects

Bindal alleged that construction at Nahan Medical College has been stalled for over three years despite funds being provided by the Central Government led by Narendra Modi.

He questioned why:

  • The proposed 11-storey building and 500-bed hospital have not started.
  • The 50-bed mother and child hospital project remains incomplete.
  • Funds sanctioned for the nursing college have not been accounted for.

He also raised concerns over the deteriorating healthcare system in Sirmaur district, citing high test costs, prescription fees, shortage of medicines and doctors, closure of three PHCs and one CHC, and disruption in schemes like Himcare and Ayushman Bharat.

BJP Walkout from All-Party Meeting

Bindal further criticised the Congress government over the all-party meeting convened by the Chief Minister. He stated that BJP representatives attended the meeting seriously and listened to discussions for nearly two hours, including the report presented by the Finance Secretary.

However, he alleged that when BJP leaders began presenting facts from the same government report, they were repeatedly interrupted. Accusing Congress leaders of shifting the blame entirely onto the Centre, Bindal said the BJP staged a walkout in protest.

He claimed that despite receiving nearly ₹27,000 crore as Revenue Deficit Grant and thousands of crores under various heads over the past three years, development has stalled and institutions are shutting down.

Bindal asserted that BJP’s protest was not political but aimed at transparency and public interest, adding that the party will continue to hold the state government accountable.
