The government of Punjab has announced a major welfare initiative for women, under which financial assistance of ₹1,000 per month will be provided to eligible women across the state. For women belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC) community, the assistance will be ₹1,500 per month.
The announcement was shared by the Aam Aadmi Party through an official update, stating that registration for the scheme will begin from April 13. The government has also issued a notification confirming the rollout of the scheme.
The initiative is part of the state’s broader social welfare commitment aimed at strengthening financial independence among women and providing relief in household expenses. Officials said the scheme is designed to improve social and economic security for women and help them become more self-reliant.
The scheme aligns with earlier promises made by the party during the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections, when it had announced a monthly allowance for women above 18 years of age. The latest budget announcement has formalized the scheme under the name “Mukhy Mantri Maan-Te-Dhian Da Samman Yojana.”
Under the scheme, all eligible adult women in Punjab will receive ₹1,000 per month, while SC women will receive ₹1,500 per month, marking a significant step in expanding direct benefit support in the state.
