A Punjab soldier from Sangrur district was martyred during an encounter with militants in Manipur.

According to official information, Gurdip Singh, who had been serving in the Indian Army for the past 21 years, was shot during an anti-militant operation. He was a resident of village Mehlan Chowk in the Sunam subdivision of Sangrur district.

The martyr is survived by his wife, a son, and a daughter. His mortal remains are expected to reach his native village today, where his last rites will be performed with full state honours.

The news of his sacrifice has plunged the entire village into mourning, with family members and residents in deep shock.

It is noteworthy that a joint operation involving the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, and Manipur Police has been underway since February 15 against militant elements in the region. During this operation, Gurdip Singh laid down his life in the line of duty.

His sacrifice is being remembered as a testament to the bravery and dedication of India’s armed forces.
